The market of drones for private individuals has expanded considerably in recent years.

To help you see more clearly, we have answered the most frequently asked questions on the subject : prices, time-of-flight camera ..

Before we begin, we need to remember that the use of drones is regulated by the law. For security reasons, it is prohibited to fly over urban areas (streets, stadiums, parks), airports, or military bases. For more details, please visit the site AmateursDeDrones.fr or check out this short video.

The drones of our selection are models premium. You are looking for a device less than 50 € ? Then read our list of the best drones on the cheap.

What is the difference between a drone and a quadrirotor ? .

There isn’t really. A drone is a flying vehicle without a driver (UAV, “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” in English) and a quadrirotor is a drone that has specifically four engines.

For marketing reasons, the term quadrirotor is rather used to cheap products, and drone for the devices more expensive.

How much is a drone ? .

It is possible to find drones of entry around 10 €, but if you want a camera on your device then it will need to spend at least 50 €.

For 100 €, you can find drones with a video feedback direct (via application or small control screen), and from 350 € the quality of the latter improves considerably.

Finally, so that your device can capture high-quality images, it is necessary that it has a good stabilization tool, and it costs at least 500 €.

Time-of-flight distance and volume

Most of the drones first prize have a flight time of 10 minutes. After this, it is necessary to recharge, which can take between 30 and 60 minutes via USB cable. Prefer a model to batteries or removable battery, and always have refills on hand.

The drones premiums themselves have up to 30 minutes of battery life.

For what is the radius of action, each manufacturer of drone announces the scope of its product but, as a general rule, it is 50 mr. remember that when you use a drone, the latter must always remain in your field of vision, so having a flight distance of 150 m is not necessarily useful.

Spare parts.

Unless you are a professional driver, you are guaranteed that your drone will fall or bump into a wall, at least three times before you reach the master.

We recommend that you as well go take a look online to see if it is possible to buy spare parts (propellers, etc) for the model of drone that you are interested in.

Camera.

All the drones do not have a camera, and when they have, the result can be disappointing.

Apart from the models the more expensive, the drones often have only a video resolution of 720 p (1280 x 720), and without a stabilization tool. The image is so blurry and shaky.

For the backup content, it is done either on a micro SD card or on a USB key, or directly on your phone.

Honestly, to shoot a video worthy of the name, it is better to choose a drone with a support for a camera sporting (GoPro etc) and a stabilizer.
