How to update your smartphone or Android tablet ?.

To make the most of your Android smartphone, make sure that the operating system is up to date. This is true also for your tablet. Question performance, update the operating system of your Android devices is as important as updating your apps, then follow our tutorial !

Check your version of Android .

Before you begin, verify which version of Android you are using, may be you are already up to date.

The latest version of this operating system is called Android 8 Oreo.

Android 8 Oreo is not yet available on all devices, but will, gradually, over the next few months.

The previous versions of Android are Nougat 7., Marshmallow 6.x, Lollipop 5.x. and KitKat 4.4 x (the other variants, KitKat 4.3, 4.2 and 4.1 are now grouped under the name Jelly Bean.)

It is possible to force the Android phone or tablet to check for an update, but alas, this does not mean that you will be able to install it on your device (if it is very old).

If your phone or tablet is running a version older than Jelly Bean, unless you’ve never updated, it is unlikely that you can install a more recent version.

Settings .

For safety, it is best to back up the data on their phone, such as contacts and pictures, before you perform an update. It should not affect the information on your phone, but this is not guaranteed.

Go to the settings of your device. For most Android phones and tablets, the settings are accessible in the applications menu and in the notification bar at the top of the screen (the icon represents either a wrench or a cog).

“About tablet” or “about phone” .

In your settings, at the bottom of the drop-down menu, you will find a tab about phone or about tablet.

The menus vary slightly from one mobile phone to another (even for tablets), but here, you can find another tab named update.

If an update is available and compatible with your camera, a message appears asking you if you want to install it.

Space and Wi-Fi .

Note that to update your operating system, your phone, or your tablet must be connected to Wi-Fi (which is better than the 4G, given the size of the file to download). Also, you need to have enough storage space on your phone.
