Capture the entire screen .

1 – press and Hold down the keys Command + Shiftand then press 3.

2 – The photo of your screen will be saved on your desktop in the format .png. You can recognize it by its name : “Screenshot (year)-(month)-(day) – – (hour).png”

It’s as simple as that !

If you are using two displays, two separate images are recorded simultaneously.

Capture a part of the screen .

1 – press and Hold down the keys Command + Shiftand then press 4.

2 – Select the part of the screen that you want to photograph with the pointer (your mouse).

3 – The photo of your screen will be saved on your desktop in the format .png. You can recognize it by its name : “Screenshot (year)-(month)-(day)-(hour).png”

Tip n°1 : once the pointer appears, you can release the keys of your keyboard.

You can move the selection that you have made if you hold down the space bar pressed.

Tip n°2 : Press the space bar at any time to abort the capture screen without taking a photo.

Measure the size of a screenshot.

As you can see in the photo below, next to the pointer there are two figures. These are the pixels.

When you do Shift + Command + 4 (before selection), these figures indicate the coordinates of your mouse on the screen.

Once you have clicked and made a selection, these figures indicate the number of vertical and horizontal pixels of the latter.

Do you capture a drop-down menu (and other elements of your screen) .

To take a picture of a drop-down menu, apply the same techniques as for the capture of a window.

1 – press and Hold down the keys Command + Shiftand then press 4.

2 – When the cursor appears, press the space bar.

3 – Position the cursor at the top of the drop-down menu (which then is highlighted in blue) and left-click.

4 – You can find the photo of your menu on your Desktop, still in the format .png.

Note that the title of the drop-down menu will not be included in the capture. If you need it, you will need to make a selection, “by eye” with your cursor.

This technique allows you to take other parts of your screen in photo : bar applications ..
